Workshop 1: Tiny Lives, Lasting Love: Understanding Pregnancy & Infant Loss

The death of a baby during pregnancy, at birth or in infancy can bring profound and lasting grief. Yet pregnancy and infant loss is still too often misunderstood, minimised or carried in silence. This compassionate workshop will explore the many experiences that can sit within pregnancy and infant loss, including miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal death. We will consider why these losses can feel invisible to others, the grief of hopes and futures imagined, and the different ways parents, partners and family members may experience and express their grief. The session will also explore how we can better support bereaved parents and families — not only immediately following a loss, but in the months and years that follow.

Workshop 2: Little People, Big Grief: Supporting Children Through Death, Loss & Change

Children grieve differently from adults, and their understanding of death changes as they grow. This practical and compassionate workshop explores how children experience grief, loss and significant life changes, and how the adults around them can provide safe, honest and supportive care. Participants will learn how grief may be expressed through behaviour, play and emotions, how to use age-appropriate language when talking about death, and practical ways to support children at home, school and in the community. Whether supporting a child after the death of a loved one or through another significant loss or change, this workshop provides the knowledge and confidence to respond with compassion and understanding.

Workshop 3: Young, Grieving & Often Unseen: Teenage and Young Adult Grief

Adolescence and young adulthood are some of life’s most significant periods of growth. During these years, young people are discovering who they are, developing independence, forming deep friendships, exploring relationships and beginning to imagine their future. When death, serious illness or significant loss occurs during this stage, it can profoundly disrupt that journey. This workshop explores the unique ways grief is experienced during adolescence and young adulthood and provides practical strategies for supporting young people with compassion, understanding and confidence. Participants will learn how to recognise grief responses, understand the challenges young people face, and create environments where grief can be acknowledged rather than hidden.

Workshop 5: When Life Changes Course: Grief Identity and Loss in Midlife

Midlife can bring multiple transitions and losses, often all at once. Relationships may change. Children may leave home. Parents may begin to need care. Careers can shift unexpectedly. Health may change. Friendships can fade. Financial security may be disrupted. The roles that once defined us may no longer fit. Yet many of these experiences are rarely recognised as grief. This workshop explores the often-unseen losses of midlife and how changes in identity, relationships, work, family and health can bring genuine grief.

Talking about dying is one of the hardest conversations many of us will ever have. Yet avoiding these discussions can leave families unprepared, uncertain, and overwhelmed when it matters most.
